Monkfish is sometimes known as anglerfish or goosefish. This large, bottom dweller is found in the coastal waters of the Atlantic.
The meat is found in the tail. With a bone that runs down the middle of the tail each side yields a white, meaty fillet.
The sweet, dense meat of the monkfish is often compared to lobster meat, the two are similar in texture and taste. Monkfish is a low fat, low cholesterol protein and a good source of vitamin B3. Monkfish can be prepared many different ways:
- Pan-fry
- Oven roast
- Poached or Steamed
- Grilled
